Renowned media ethicist, former journalist and educator Dr Denis Muller was our 2023 Kerferd Orator who explored the topic Living through the news media revolution.

Dr Muller is a media ethics expert who has worked as a journalist for 27 years, including stints as assistant editor at The Sydney Morning Herald and associate editor at The Age.

During the past three decades, Dr Muller has undertaken independent policy research across the fields of education, health, the environment and the media.

He is an educator, teaching media ethics as part of the University of Melbourne’s Masters of Journalism, and author of Media Ethics and Disasters, Journalism Ethics for the Digital Age and Journalism and the Future of Democracy.
